MONROE - Funeral services for Tena Van Zomeren Keuning, 85, a longtime Monroe, Prairie City area resident, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.

The Rev. Thomas Bass, pastor of the Monroe United Presbyterian Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 a.m. Friday and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Prairie City Ambulance Fund may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Keuning died Tuesday at Clearview Manor in Prairie City.

Survivors are two sons, Robert of Monroe and Ray of Hilo, Hawaii; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Vander wall of Dinuba, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Henry, four brothers and four sisters.

Mrs. Keuning was a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.

The daughter of Walter and Jantje De Jongh Van Zomeren, she was born Jan. 15, 1906 in The Netherlands.

She was married to Henry Keuning Dec. 25, 1929 in Pella.

A resident of Clearview Manor for five years, she previously resided for five years in Pella but spent most of her life in the Monroe and Prairie City areas. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1991
