Georgia M. Kasper

Georgia M. Kasper, 68, of Rt. 2, Box 106, Newton, a lifelong resident of the Newton area, died Monday, July 29, at the Skiff Medical Center after suffering a heart attack.

Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Rev. James Vrba of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pella will conduct services. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday and visitation with the family will follow the vigil service until 8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Paul; two daughters, Paula (Mrs. Jim) Lundahl of Iowa City and Luann Jenkins of Seymour; a brother, Russell Gildersleeve of Kellogg; and two sisters, Mildred Healy of Newton and Vi Gildersleeve of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Kasper was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and St. Stephens Ministry.

She was a school teacher and, after her marriage to Paul Kasper Aug. 20, 1949 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton, a homemaker.

The adopted daughter of Jim and Josephine Morrissey, she was born April 29, 1923 in rural Newton.

A graduate of Newton Community High School, she attended Drake University in Des Moines in order to acquire a teaching certificate. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1991
