Hollis Morgan, 504 E. 4 1/2 St. S., died this morning, Oct. 24, at the Skiff Medical Center.

Hollis "Bill" Morgan

Funeral services for Hollis I. "Bill" Morgan, 67, of 504 E. 4 1/2 St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. David Raymond, pastor of the Congregational United Church of Christ, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Hospice of Jasper County or the Congregational United Church of Christ will be accepted.

He died Monday morning at the Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Survivors are his wife, Anna; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David and Peggy of Colfax and Donald of Newton; a daughter, Debra (Mrs. Jim) Reiss of Wasilla, Alaska; four grandchildren; a brother, Raymond of Bondurant; and two sisters, Louise (Mrs. Lawrence) Mills of Baxter and Shirley Peters of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Morgan was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, Maytag Management Club and Newton Masonic Lodge 59 AF and AM.

Mr. Morgan, a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, was employed at the Maytag Co. as an industrial engineer for 42 years, retiring in December, 1989.

The son of Emerson and Vera Carter Morgan, he was born Dec. 31, 1926 in Swan, was a 1945 graduate of Newton Community High School and attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

He was married to Anna I. Wallace April 9, 1949 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1994.
