BATON ROUGE, La. - Funeral services for Patty (Bump) Veenendaal, 57, of Baton Rouge, La., a former longtime resident of Newton, were held Saturday, Dec. 24, at the Baton Rouge Methodist Church.

A resident of Newton from 1937 until 1974, Mrs. Veenendaal died Thursday at her home in Baton Rouge.

Survivors are her husband, Leroy; a son, Lee, and five daughters, Sarah, Ellen, Barbara, Tanji and Ramona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Gladine Cotton.

She was married to Leroy Veenendaal Aug. 27, 1954 in Newton.

A graduate of Newton Community High School, she was a member of the Baton Rouge Methodist Church. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1994
