Marvin W. Waldo, 68, of 203 Country Club Acres died this morning, Dec. 10, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of a heart attack.

Graveside rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at the Veterans Section of Newton Union Cemetery.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home from 8 a.m. Monday until time of services.

He is survived by special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Tharp, his neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Oren G., June 30, 1981.

Mr. Waldo, who resided most of his life in Newton, was a veteran of the Merchant Marines.

The son of Loren George and Alma Gertrude Chivers Waldo, he was born Aug. 2, 1925 in Marshalltown. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1993
