MONROE - Alta Baker Pendroy, 91, of Monroe died Monday, Sept. 14, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.

The Rev. Jim Olson, pastor of the Zoar Church, North of Newton, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Memorials to the Monroe Fire and Emergency Units will be accepted.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are three sons, Burton Simbro of Monroe, Eugene Simbro of Knoxville and Raymond Simbro of Pella; a daughter, Arlene Hicks of Newton; and several grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude; a son, Leroy; a daughter, Viola Dietrich; two brothers; six grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

She was a member of the Newton Rebekah Lodge.

The daughter of Lee and Lula Baker, she was born August 20, 1901.

She was married to Charlie Simbro in 1917 and later to Claude Pendroy. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1992
