PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Veva Gertsma Perry, 77, of Dallas, Texas, a former longtime resident of Prairie City, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Prairie City Christian Church.

The Rev. John Mc Kinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church in Colfax, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Waveland cemetery in Prairie City.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Walters-Coburn funeral home in Prairie City.

Mrs. Perry died Monday at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

Survivors are two sons, David of Waterloo and Robert of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maple Kleinendorst of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Lillian Munger of Newton.

Mrs. Perry was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James D., and several brothers and sisters.

She was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church.

The daughter of Andrew and Cornelia Kooyman Gertsma, she was born March 23, 1914 in Jasper County.

She was married to James D. Perry April 13, 1931 in Mitchellville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1991
