Edith Say Veber, 79, of Kellogg died Thursday, Dec. 5, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kellogg United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Trevor Davis-Hajek officiating. Burial was in Our Silent City Cemetery at Kellogg, with the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home of Newton in charge of arrangements.

The daughter of Joseph and Mary Elizabeth Hayes Smith, she was born on Sept. 25, 1906, in Hickory Grove Township, Jasper County. She graduated from Newburg High School and Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

She was married to Charlie James Veber on June 23, 1934, at Earlham.

Mrs. Veber was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Kellogg Historical Society. She had been a teacher in Sac City and rural schools in Poweshiek County. She was a life long resident at Kellogg.

Survivors include two sons, Dale E. Veber of Ankeny and Craig S. Veber of Bettendorf; one daughter, Donna Parsons of Jefferson City Mo.; four grandchildren; one brother, Charles Smith of Newburg; and three sisters, Alberta Sullens of Kellogg, Louise Falk of St. Paul, Minn., and Ada Pearl Eames of Gilman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother, Howard.

Memorials may be made to the Kellogg Historical Society or the Kellogg United Methodist Church.

KELLOGG - Mrs. Charlie James (Edith Fay) Veber, 79, of Box 35, Kellogg, a lifelong resident of the Kellogg community, died Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Kellogg United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Trevor Davis-Hajek, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton after 1 p.m. Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Memorial contributions to the Kellogg Historical Society or the Kellogg United Methodist Church will be accepted.

Survivors are two sons, Dale E. of Ankeny, and Craig S. of Bettendorf; a daughter, Mrs. Hollis (Donna) Parsons of Jefferson City, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother, Charles Smith of Newburg, and three sisters, Mrs. F. M. (Alberta) Sullens of Kellogg, Mrs. C. J. (Louise) Falk of St. Paul, Minn., and Mrs. C. O. (Ada Pearl) Eames of Gilman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1958, and a brother, Howard.

Mrs. Veber was a member of the Kellogg United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's Association, and the Kellogg Historical Society.

She taught in Sac City and in Poweshiek County rural schools.
