Rites Today for Lois Bassett, 50

Mrs. Lois Bassett, 50, of Newton, wife of Bill, sheet metal, and mother of Sally Rorabaugh, manufacturing engineering, died Monday evening at the Newton Y where she was attending an exercise session. Funeral services were held this afternoon in the Newton Morgan-Loehr funeral home and burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery.

In addition to her husband and daughter, survivors include three other daughters: Mrs. Joan Ver Heul, Bakersfild, Calif.; Mrs. Sue Jenson of Omaha, Neb., and Mrs. Barbara Trotter of Oxnard, Calif.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Cochran of Newton; two brothers and four sisters. A sister, Myrna Van Hoosen, is the mother of Shirley Cooper, safety, and Mary Altemeier, training. Sally's husband, Dave, works in construction engineering and Shirley's husband, Carwin, works in dryer assembly.

Paper unknown, probably the Maytag Bulletin. Birth and death years are from the Newton Union Cemetery online records. Transcriber note: Mr. and Mrs. Otis Cochran reside in Rolla, Mo.
