FRED VAN BAALE
Monroe

Fred Van Baale, 85, of Monroe died of a heart ailment Tuesday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Monroe United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery.

Mr. Van Baale was born in Union Mills and lived in Colfax before retiring in 1975 and moving to Monore. He had worked for the highway maintenance division of the Iowa Department of Transportation.

Surviving are his wife, Viola; two sons, Morris of Newton and Glen of Colfax; a grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call after noon today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe American Legion or Monroe Emergency Unit.
