Frances B. Jennings

Frances Honn Barber Jennings, 72, of Mc Cann Village, a resident of Newton since 1985, died Saturday morning, Oct. 19, at her home following a heart attack.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God.

The Rev. Sam Reaves, interim pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial wil be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Iowa Cemetery in Clio.

Friends may call at the wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 8 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the fmaily will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home or the church.

Survivors are a son, Ray Barber Sr. of Ames; a step-son, John Hennings Jr. of Des Moines; two daughters, Carolyn (Mrs. John) Berglund of Pleasantville and Marilyn (Mrs. Les) Krieger of Burlington; two step-daughters, Doris Shrieve of Santa Barbara, calif., and Janice (Mrs. Darrell) Olson of Goleta, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister, Marie (Mrs. Ray) Houdesheldt of Des Moines; and a step-sister, Bonnie Barnes of Princeton, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Ray Barber, in 1960, her second husband, John Jennings Sr., in 1988 and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Jennings, a practical nurse for many years, was a member of the First Assembly of God and the Missionary Society.

The daugher of Walter and Alma Jackson Honn, she was born Dec. 4, 1918 near Garden Grove.

Mrs. Jennings had resided in Huxley prior to moving to Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1991
