Audrey M. Hartz

Audrey Marie Borchert Hartz, 60, of 400 E. 19th St. S., a resident of Newton since 1951, died this morning, Dec. 20, at Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Jerry Doellinger, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in rural Lacona.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home and visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Our Savior Lutheran Church air conditioning fund will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Earl; two sons, Vernon Lynn of Tucson, Ariz., and Myron Earl of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are seven brothers, Leland Borchert of Newton, Paul Borchert of Altoona, Glen Borchert of Knoxville, Marvin Borchert of Des Moines, Henry Borchert of Rock Creek, Edgar Borchert of rural Lacona and Larry Borchert of rural Indianola; five sisters, Myrtle Smith and Ilene Borchert, both of Des Moines, Gloria (Mrs. Floyd) de Witt of Russell, Grace (Mrs. Virgil) Hartz of Newton and Joan (Mrs. Myron) Breese of Knoxville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Joan Elaine, in infancy, and a sister, Leona Havard.

Mrs. Hartz, who was employed at Willis Adult Day Center and Peck Child Care Center for eight years, was a charter member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a member of the LWML of the church.

The daughter of Fred John and Florence Kathleen Willis Borchert, she was born Mary 13, 1930 in rural Lacona and attended Horstman School in Marion County.

She was married to Earl V. Hartz Oct. 2, 1949 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in rural Lacona.

Mrs. Hartz had resided in Knoxville from 1949 until moving to Newton.
