Added 3 June 2015.

Charles S. Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wilson, died Friday Aug. 23, 1935, after a few weeks of illness at the age of thirty-two years, six months and 2 days. He was the third child of a family of eight. He leaves to mourn his death his mother, Mrs. Tom Wilson, three sisters, Goldie Ver Steeg, Doris Mindham and Luella Wilson, and one brother Theodore Wilson; also one niece Louise Mindham and one nephew, Jack Ver Steeg, all of Des Moines. Besides his relatives, a host of friends survive.

His father preceded him in death in 1932, also three brothers in infancy.

Charlie was always a happy boy, and had a smile and good word for everyone. He will be greatly missed by his many friends. Friends and relatives will follow him to the last resting place.

We shall go home to our Father’s house,
To our Father’s house in the skies;
Where the hope of our soul shall have no blight
And our love no broken ties.
Gone yes gone, our boy,
Laid to rest beneath the sod.
And our hearts are crushed and broken,
But we know that he’s with God.
Gone, yes gone, our boy,
For his chair now vacant stands.
But we know he’s with the angels,
While we’re left a broken band.
Never more can loving parents
Have their hearts with gladness filled,
For the hands are folded
And the voice forever stilled.
Mamma, weep not for your son;
Jesus did what he thought best,
Took your son from suffering
Unto heaven and gave it rest.

The body was brought to Prairie City by Lilly’s of Des Moines and funeral services were held from the Methodist church Tuesday morning at 10:30 with the pastor, Rev. J. H. Findley, in charge. A mixed quartet, composed of Frank Shearer, Mrs. Earl Williams, Mrs. C.C. Neff and Mel Bowans, sang “Sweet By and By”, "It Is Well With My Soul” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Pallbearers were Marion Myers, Jr., Joy Ver Dught, Vernon Bowen, Merle Bowen, Kenneth Cabbage, and Charles Perry. Burial was made in Westview cemetery. ~ This info from a collection of the Prairie City Library, Prairie City, Iowa.
