Edward W. Hayes, son of William and Anna Hayes was born in Jasper County, Iowa December 14, 1846 and died July 2, 1926.

He married Catherine Buckingham on February 15, 1871. One daughter, Mrs. J. S. Jelsma, who died April 10, 1876.

On January 5, 1886 he was married to Olive Lotts, who survives. One son, William Russell.

Burial at Vandalia Cemetery.
