Mary A. Hatcher was born in Howard County, Indiana on February 23, 1849 and died January 27, 1926.

In 1869 she was married to Wm. Hampton.

They resided on a farm near Vandalia, Iowa where Mr. Hampton died in 1876.

One son, Emory Hampton, died in 1893. On September 4, 1889 she married R. A. Hanes, who survives her.

Surviving besides her husband are three daughters and one son, two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Cowman of Wessington Spring, South Dakota and Mrs. Lenora Draper of Sundance, Wyoming.

Also one brother Dr. Chas. Hatcher of Ames, Iowa and several nieces and nephews.

Burial in Waveland Cemetery.
