Marjorie Maxwell, age 84, of rural Collins, died Thursday, January 25, 2007 at Hospice of Jasper County Monarch Wing in Newton. Services were held Monday at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Ashton Chapel Cemetery. Memorials to Ashton Chapel may be left at the funeral home.Marjorie was born May 13, 1922 in rural Colfax to Sanford Leroy “Roy” and Edith Longren Faidley. She grew up in rural Colfax and was a 1940 graduate of Colfax High School. She attended Simpson College to receive her teaching certificate. She taught country school for a couple of years in the early 1940’s before becoming a farmer’s wife and homemaker. She married Leon Maxwell on December 24, 1943 in Colfax. She was a member of Ashton Chapel, where she taught preschool Sunday School for 60 years and Vacation Bible School each summer. Marjorie also headed up the Memorial Day program for 35 years at Ashton Cemetery.
Survivors include 2 sons, James (Marta) Maxwell and Gerald (Mary), all of Collins; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Kenneth Faidley of Austin, TX and Ramon (Phyllis) Faidley of Colfax; and 1 sister, Marvel (Bob) Baxter of Boise, Idaho; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 4 brothers, Darrell, Lloyd, Myron, and Loren Faidley.
