Wednesday, September 9, 1896Death of E. R. Drew
Died.--At St. Louis, Sept. 4, 1896 of typhoid fever, Mr. Edward R. Drew, in the 30th year of his age.He was the son of Mr. A. E. Drew, who resides 2 1/2 miles southeast of Newton, and was born in Ohio. On the 4th of last June, just after the great cyclone, he went to St. Louis for work. About five weeks ago, he was taken sick at his boarding house, with typhoid fever, and afterwards taken to the hospital. His body arrived in Newton last Sunday, and was accompanied by his brother Aaron, who had been with him the last week of his sickness. The funeral took place from the residence of his parents, at 10 a. m. on Monday, with services by Rev. C. C. Harrah, and his body interred in the Newton cemetery.
