The Newton (IA) Journal Wednesday, May 23, 1894

Obituary - Died, Mar. 12, 1894, at his home in east Newton, of hemorrhage of the lungs, Robert Denver Ohler, aged only 21 years.

When a mere boy, full of life and hope, he went away from home to make his way in the world. Bright and alert, he soon found his place. Energetic, ambitious and skillful, he succeeded well.

A severe cold, which settled upon his lungs-not properly, cared for-away from home and mother, developed rapidly into serious illness.

After many sad months spent in Colorado in the futile effort to regain health, he came home from Kansas City, with his brother, about six weeks ago. He rallied somewhat fro the fatigue of the journey, which he bore bravely, was cheerful and courageous till the swift summons came, then had only time to say "Mama I am dying."

On the beautiful morning of May 14, a few fitting words were most tenderly spoken by Rev. Mr. Brooks, to the sorrowing group; a last lingering look taken of the beautiful boyish face, and the young form was all too soon (seemingly) borne tenderly away to rest in the grave, which was deftly relieved somewhat of its gloom by a lining of soft white, with sprigs of cedar and wild flowers.

Robert advised his young friends to be careful of their health, and not go to work too soon after an illness.
