Mrs. Mary Long Little, who is so well known here, having lived here nearly all her life, died last Wednesday, January 24th, 1894, after a lingering illness, which was undoubtedly quick consumption. Mr. L. has not been well since she left Newton, a year ago last spring. A siege of typhoid pneumonia was the main cause. About four months ago, she left her Chicago home for San Antonio, Texas, in the hopes of recovery to health. At first she gained rapidly, and was much encourged, but it proved but temporary. Her husband has been with her since Christmas day. The body was taken to Chicago, to the home of her sister, Mrs. Lizzie McCarthy, at No. 3, Oak Place.

The funeral was held there and the remains taken to one of Chicago's beautiful cemeteries. Mrs. Little has many friends in Newton who extend symptahy to the husband, young son, mother and sisters, who are thus bereft. ~ The Newton Journal (Iowa), Jan. 31, 1894.
