MONROE — Margaret M. Van Baale, 92, of Monroe died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

A funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Monroe Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Silent City Cemetery.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given in her name to the Tools Point Park Playground Equipment Project.

The daughter of George W. and Hannah L. (Annyas) Snook, she was born April 15, 1914, in Jasper County. A lifetime resident of the area, she attended country school and graduated from Newton Senior High School. On Feb. 16, 1935, she married Laurel Ray Van Baale in Newton. She was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church, where she was active in the Westminster Circle. She enjoyed camping, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters-in-law, Ramona Van Baale of Monroe and Mary Van Baale of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; two sons, Jerry and Donald; an infant daughter, Beverly; a great-granddaughter; one sister, Thelma; and four brothers, Darold, Myron, William and Clifford.
