FOUND DEAD. - Mr. Oliver P. Richardson, a newphew of Dr. Perry Engle, was found dead in his room over the "Herald" [newspaper] office at 6 o'clock last evening. He had complained of his stomach hurting him and had gone upstairs and laid down. At about 2:30 he was heard breathing heavily and some of the employees went up and thought he was simply sick and breathing heavily; a trip with the same result was made about an hour later. At 6 o'clock they went up and tried to rouse him but life was extinct.
The deceased way about 31 years of age and had lived here about two years working at his trade of a broom maker. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and carried a $2,000 policy payable to his heirs-at-law his mother and one sister are living in Goodland, Kansas, and the other sister in Scranton, Mich.
An inquest was held and the jury composed of Adam Sharf, Geo. Harrah and E. E. Lambert, brought in a verdict of death from natural causes.
The woodmen took charge of the body and will inter it.
The deceased was a young man of exemplary habits and had many friends especially among the Woodmen and the Fire Co. to whom he belonged. ~ The Newton Journal (Iowa), Wednesday, April 12, 1893.
