McKee – Roberts
Vern Roberts, junior member of the grocery firm of Roberts Bros., of this city, and Miss Cora McKee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam McKee of Monroe, were married by Rev. Patterson at the United Presbyterian parsonage in Des Moines, yesterday afternoon, Wednesday, June 6th, at 4 o’clock. They were accompanied by the bride’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Will Eyerley, of this city. After the ceremony the bridal party returned to Newton on No. 4 train, where a reception was given them at the home of the groom’s brother, Frank Roberts, on North Farmers street, a number of guests from Monroe being present to unite with Newton friends in extending congratulations to the young couple. The bride and groom were both born in Monroe, where all their lives have been spent, until Vern went into business in this city a few months ago. He is a young man of spotless character and of excellent business qualifications. The bride is a beautiful girl in feature as well as in all the graces that go to make up perfect womanhood. That their future may be full of happiness is the earnest wish of a host of friends. After the reception, Vern and his bride took possession of the Will Dennison cottage on South Mechanic St., which was all furnished and ready to receive them.
