High School Student
Killed in CollisionMonroe, Ia. Nov. 2 – Special: (A.P.) - Clifford Waddele, 14 year old student, was killed and three schoolmates were injured today when their automobile collided with another car and overturned a mile and a half west of here.
The students were on their way to school. The injured are Phyllis Bowman and Paul Colyn, who suffered fractured collar bones and lacerations, and Joy Wilson, whose nose was broken.
Mrs. Hazen Whetstine, driver of the other automobile, said she was backing out of a driveway along the highway and stopped on the north side of the road to permit the other car to pass. The students car struck the rear bumper of her auto.
The Whetstine auto was not damaged.
Waddele was the son of Mrs. Bert Ballard.
Coroner James J. Engle said he would conduct an inquest in a few days, permitting the children to recover before questioning.
