Observe Golden Wedding Anniversary

The following account of the golden wedding celebration tendered Mr. and Ms. I. F. Harris at their home at Earlham, Iowa, was taken from the Redfield Review, and will be of interest to their many Colfax friends.

Last Friday, Sept. 18, 1931, Mr. and Mrs. I. F. Harris celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their beautiful home in the Bear Creek neighborhood, where they have resided for about forty-three years, and by their active interest in all good things for the benefit of that community, have formed a wide circle of friends who were delighted with the opportunity to join in with this worthy couple in celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Promptly at twelve o'clock, a two course dinner was served in the dinning room of the Bear Creek Friends church. Before this, the guests assembled in the church auditorium where a scripture lesson, taken from the Psalms, was read by the pastor, Rev. A. J. Hanson, and prayer was offered by *Rev. W. S. Hitch, a former pastor.

One hundred an sixteen guests were seated at the table. The room was tastefully decorated with flowers and wedding bells with a color scheme of white and gold.

Following the dinner hour the company adjourned to the spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Harris, where they held open house to their many friends during the afternoon and evening.

Among the guests present were their two daughters, Mrs. C. E. Hadley and Mrs. Floyd James, their husbands, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The members of the Burden Bearers Sunday school class, to which Mr. and Mrs. Harris belong, were also guests.

One guest of whom special mention should be made was Mrs. W. D. Paulson, who made the wedding dress for Mrs. Harris, fifty years ago.

Fisher, Rolfe; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jones, Collins; Mr. and Mrs. Zenas Jones, Ira, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Art Poorbaugh, Ralph (paper torn and some info missing), Mr. and Mrs. Roy Davy, Mrs. Bert Longcor, Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Baldwin and H. K. Poorbaugh of Farrar, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Harris were married near Colfax in Jasper County, moving in the bear Creek neighborhood more than forty-two years ago and have made a host of friends who join in wishing them many more years of health and happiness together.
