Roy Faidley's Recollections dated 1974 that were found in Catherine Henderson's papers
Jim Good's mine was 1/2 mile east of the Bear Grove School, on the north side of the road on Old Dexter Fowl's place. His son-in-law, Ott Adams took over the coal mine by 1919. It was not Union. I (Roy) hauled many a load of coal from there in 1919. It was about 40 rods north of the road. Jim Good sunk the mine in 1903 or 1904. Roy first met Jim Good in 1913 or 1914. Jim helped farmers thresh and harvest when not working the mine.
Couch Hill - This was west of Battles (Royal and Vivian Kvasny Battles) and north - about a half mile west of where Myron Faidley lives, then turn back south. Sam Sage owned 40 acres here.
Jim Good lived at Oswalt before moving to the Bear Grove area. He lived 3/4 mile north of the Bear Grove School.
Roy has a school attendance book for the years near 1906. The daily attendance record book for the year 1906 shows Nora Good as being 19 years old.
Fred Carpenter was once married to a Havens
Ame or Acme Adams Ott Adams
Roy Faidley's first wife was the daughter of Longren.
The older Evans (Frank Evans) lives 40 rods north of Couch Hill.
Joe Miller lived around Seavers before moving to Bear Grove.
Jim Good had brothers Al, and John. Al had sons Russell and Arthur or "Mutt" Good.
Lily Beard lives 2nd house across west of Roy. She was Charley Good's daughter.
