Reunion of Descendants from County Antrim, Ireland

Reunion Held at Newton Park
Laurel – The annual reunion of the immigrants, their descendants and their families from County Antrim, Ireland, to Iowa was held Sunday at the Maytag Park at Newton with 77 attending.
As the group gathered around the bountifully spread picnic table, “Blest Be the Tie.” The afternoon was spent in visiting by the older people while the younger generation enjoyed the playground and swimming pool. Stanley Lyle Jr., was the youngest “Irish” present.
Those attending included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Reese of Rock Island, Ill., Martha M. Moore, James C. Moore, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Olmstead and son, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Thompson, Mrs. Ellen Gummert and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Thompson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson and son, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Jacobs and family, Margaret Thompson, Harry Thompson, Cecil Yeager and James McMeekin Sr., all of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Wendel Stanley and sons of Gilman, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Wilson and family, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson and Barbara Vander Zyl, all of Prairie City, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Bates and daughters of Kellogg, Mrs. Anna Laverty, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Laverty, and son, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laverty and children, Mr. and Mrs. John Laverty and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Lyle Sr., Mr. and Mrs. James Lyle Jr., and family, Mr. And Mrs. Bert Benskin, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Paul and grandchildren, Michael, Patricia and Kathie Paul, and Mrs. Al Bolen, all of Laurel.
