KELLOGG MAN LOSES HAND
----------------------
Ross Veber, Brakeman on Local
Freight in Accident.

Ross Veber of Kellogg, a brakeman on the local Rock Island freight lost his hand while at work in Brooklyn Sunday morning. The local was doing some switching and Veber was hanging to the last of a string of cars facing the engine. He was leaning way out from the car so as to give a signal to the engineer when he struck a block signal and was knocked from the car and fell under the wheels. His hand was crushed. He was rushed to the city hospital in Grinnell but it was necessary to amputate his hand. He is doing nicely now.
