Wedding Bells – Last Wednesday evening, Oct. 29th, 1890, a goodly company assembled at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Jasper, of our city, to witness the marriage of their daughter Mary to Mr. George Davis, our popular jeweler.

At about eight o’clock, Miss Anna Treman took her place at the piano and to the strains of the beautiful wedding march, the bridal pair were ushered in taking their places in the bay window beneath a bower of vines and lace draperies. The bride was attired in a lovely robe of rose silk, with lace trimmings and looked very sweet. The groom was handsome in the customary suit of black. In a few minutes their pastor, Rev. B. F. Grenoble, by the beautiful ceremony of the Lutheran church, formally joined the hearts that had already been united by love’s holy bonds.

After congratulations, elegant refreshments were served.

Miss Mary is one of Newton’s best young ladies, and in placing her fortune in the hand of Mr. Davis, we feel that she is giving herself to one who is altogether worthy, as George is a gentleman respected by all who know him.

The presents, which were unusually elegant and beautiful, were only a slight token of the esteem and appreciation of the many friends, both in their musical and church circles. They went to their own home that night; a number of their young friends went with them and ushered them in right royally.

The best wishes of their many friends go out to this young couple, who in this auspicious manner started together on life’s voyage. ~ The Newton (IA) Journal, 11-6-1890.
