Celebrating his 100th birthday today is John H. Turner who now makes his home at the Shaw Nursing home in Newton. Born in Winneshiek County, Ia., a century ago he spent most of his life in the Decorah area. He was a farmer but also ran an implement store and restaurant. Although Mr. turner's eyesight has failed and he is hard of hearing, he still has an unusual sense of humor. ~ The Newton Daily News, Wednesday, August 7, 1957
