IRA AND SARAH BRAND

Ira and Sarah Lautenbach Brand began their married life on a farm near Sully. Ira is a son of Jacob and Jane Ver Heul Brand, Sully founders, and was born near Pella June 2, 1876. He was married to Sarah Lautenbach, daughter of Richard R. and Sarah Bosma Lautenbach of Pella. She was born May 20, 1878. They were the parents of four children: Irene (Mrs. Ernest Graham), who lives near Lynnville; Vera (Mrs. William Vos), of Sully; Raymond, who has a dairy farm near New Sharon and is soon retiring; Carroll, who is president of the Bank of Osborn in Osborn, Missouri. Irene and Ernest have two children, both of whom live on farms near Grinnell. Vera's husband was a farmer and worked in the Sully Co-op Lumber Company until his retirement. They have one daughter, Mary Lou, who manages an arts and crafts store in Anchorage, Alaska. Carroll has two daughters, both of whom are in medical work. Raymond and his wife have five children, three of whom live in the Pella area and two live near Sioux Center, Iowa.

Ira and Sarah lived on the farm northwest of Sully, now owned by Thomas Earp. Ira passed away in June of 1940 and Sarah's death occurred on October 28, 1965.
