WELLS, William B.
Farmer; S. 9; P. O. Mitchellville; born in Wellsburg, West Virginia in 1844; came to Jasper Co. in July 1875; has 202 acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. Married Amanda J. HEDY in 1867; she was born in Brooke Co., W. Va. in June 1849. They have three children - James W., born in 1868; Rosa M., born in November 1871; and Emma A., born in Jan. 1874. Republican. Has held the office of Township Clerk two terms. Member of the Christian Church. Enlisted in the 12th W. Va. V. I. in 1862; participated in the battle of Winchester, Va.; then detailed as clerk at headquarters, Department of West Virginia, until mustered out in 1865.
