TRISLER, James; Farmer; Sec. 34; P. O. Prairie City; born in Jessamine Co., Ky. in 1815; came to Clermont Co., Ohio, 1818; thence to Bartholomew Co., Ind. in 1867; has 240 acres of land, valued at $50 per acre. Married Agnes BRADLEY in 1844; she was born in Pulaski Co., Ky. in 1827. They have three children - Henry L., William M. and Isabel A. Greenbacker; members of Baptist Church. His two sons, Henry L. and Lafayette, enlisted in 33d Ind. V. I. in 1862; Henry L. went with Sherman's march to the sea; was taken prisoner at Franklin, Tenn.; held at Libby Prison; exchanged; re-enlisted; promoted to First Lieutenant; mustered out in 1865; Lafayette died in Tennessee in 1864 of typhoid fever, brought home and buried at Hartsville, Ind. ~ "Washington Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
