GROSS, G. G.
Farmer and Live Stock Dealer; Sec. 35; P. O. Prairie City; born in Fannin Co., Ga., Dec. 14, 1844. Came to this county in 1872 in August. Has 320 acres of land, valued at $12,800. Belongs to the M. E. Church. Married Mary E. STALLCOP. She was born in Johnson Co., Ind., April 14, 1829. Has two children - Francis M. and Willie. Mrs. G. was married to a man of the name PELL, by whom she had five children living - Pleasant, Richard S., Robert W., James H., Howard S. Mr. G. left Georgia in 1862; came to Lake Co., Ind.; lived there about ten years; thence to Jasper Co. Mr. G. has some pure-blooded Short-horn cattle; can give pedigree, and as fine as there is in the State. Any one in want of some good cattle would do well to call and examine his her; also some pure blooded Poland-China pigs. Has taken first premium on Short-horns for several years until last year; year before last took sweepstakes. Raises on an average 120 acres corn, or 6,000 bushels; wheat, 300 bushels; oats, 1,500; turns off 240 head of hogs yearly. Mr. G.'s parents were among the earliest settlers in Des Moines Township.
