Lynnville – Stephen J. Sparks has traced the records and is able to prove that he is a fourth cousin to Daniel Boone, of Kentucky pioneer fame, and he says that, like Daniel, if you treat him right you will receive the same, if you don’t he will get after you like Kit Carson did after the Indians. Mr. Sparks has been in Iowa fifty-five years. He has been in two wars, and having had fighting enough, he wants to live in peace with all men, serve God and find at last a home in heaven as all should endeavor to do.
Stephen Sparks was at Newton last Friday and Saturday to see his aunt Margaret Smith who is now seventy-five years old and seriously ill with enlargement of the liver. She is the wife of Lieutenant Smith of Co. D 40th regiment. The same company in which Mr. Sparks served his county during the war. – Star
