JARNAGIN, Jos. W.
Editor and Proprietor of the Colfax Journal; office on Walnut street; born in Warren Co., Illinois in 1853; came to Marion Co. in 1865; thence to Jasper Co. in 1877; attended Central University at Pella from 1872 to 1876; then came to Monroe, Iowa, and in company with J. H. Betzer, started the Monroe Times in March 1877; thence to Sheridan Co., Iowa, with Lucas Co. Republican, and on the 4th of January 1878, issued the first number of the Colfax Sentinel; was elected Principal of the school of Colfax. ~ "Washington Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
