MURRAY, Thomas
Farmer; Sec. 11; P. O. Grinnell; born in Scotland Nov. 13, 1845; came to this country in 1853, and to this county in 1876; owns eighty acres of land, valued at $40. He is a Republican in politics. Isabella Jane TURNBULL, his wife, was born in Stark Co., Ill., Dec. 10, 1849; were married Feb. 10, 1869; have three children-George A., born Feb. 18, 1870; Bertie, Oct. 20, 1874; William J., Dec. 8, 1876. Mr. MURRAY enlisted in Co. F, 124th Ill. V. I., Feb. 13, 1864; was at the siege of Spanish Fort thirteen days and nights, and in several battles. Note: Transcriber's note: Almost all other entries in this book give the value of land on a per acre basis, ranging from $20-45 per acre. It appears that the words "per acre" should have appeared after the $40 value listed for the land, but were accidentally left out in the original book.
