EDWARDS, Milton M.
Farmer; Sec. 9; P. O. Greencastle; born in Pike Co., Missouri in 1820; came to Adams Co., Illinois in 1827; thence to Jasper Co. in 1847. Has 230 acres of land, valued at $45 per acre. Married Miss Ann HENDERSON in 1841. She was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1821. They have eight children - Jonathan, George W., Charles C., James M., Mary A., Ellen E., Albert M., Armilda A. Democrat. Has held all of the School offices, Road Supervisor, Township Trustee. At the time of Mr. Edward's coming to Jasper Co., there were no settlers on the forks of the Skunk River and Indian Creek, except Mr. HAMLIN; it being necessary to go to Oskaloosa and Lynn Grove, ten miles, and at one time to Apple Grove by water. ~ "Poweshiek Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
