MILLER, L. L.
Farmer; Sec. 22; P. O. Newton; born in Trumbull CO., Ohio, in 1820; removed to Jasper Co. in July, 1868; has eighty acres of land, valued at $40 per acre. Married Miss Cyntha COLTON in 1842; she was born in Mahoning Co., Ohio, in 1824; died Sept. 5, 1856, leaving four children-Edmund, Emma J., Sarah T., Ellie E., then married Mrs. Martha E. WILSON in 1862; she was born in Watertown, Ct. in 1833; they have six children-Hattie B., Harry L., Carrie E., Bertie A., Jessie E., Nellie B. M. Republican. Has held the offices of Township Clerk and Road Supervisor. Mr. and Mrs. MILLER and oldest daughter are members of the M. E. Church. He is a member of the A., F. & A. M. Lodge, of Youngstown, Ohio. He enlisted in Girard, Ohio, in the 171st Ohio National Guards, April 25, 1864, and was mustered out in September, 1864. ~ "Palo Alto Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
