AXTELL, Charles P.
With the firm of Ray & Axtell, dry good, hosiery, notions, etc., west side of square. He was born 5 Jan 1845, in Wyoming Co., NY. He came to Wisconsin in 1866 and in 1869 came to Newton, IA. He was first employed by V. W. Skiff & Co., in 1876 he commenced their present business. He married Ada. H. MILLER 17 Oct 1872, she was born 1847 in Muscatine Co., IA. They have one child---Grace A., born 28 Jan 1876. They are members of the M. E. Church.
