McELROY, Hugh
Farmer and Stock Raiser; Sec. 3; P. O. Newton; born in Ohio Sept. 17, 1820. Married Martha KERR Sept. 11, 1845. She was born in Ohio in 1826. They had ten children, seven are living - Agness (married William McLAIN, and died in Oct. 1876), Lizzie (now Mrs. J. P. WINSTED, of Circleville, Ohio), Maggie H., William O., Charles Sumner, Hugh Edward, and Mattie Esther; two children died in infancy. Mr. Mc. has 220 acres of land, valued at $50 per acre; has fine buildings and good improvements, nearly 100 bearing apple trees, a nice forest, etc. He moved with his family to Iowa in 1869, and bought the farm he now owns.
