QUIRE, Charles E. & J. C.
constituting the firm of Quire Bros., Druggists; Lynnville; the former, Charles E. QUIRE, physician and surgeon, was born in Hamilton Co., Ohio, Nov. 25, 1842; moved to Montgomery Co., Ind., with his parents, in 1857; from there he enlisted in the 10th Indiana V. I., Co. B., was engaged in General Hospital No. 8 most of the time; was honorably discharged in October, 1863; returned to Fredericksburg and commenced the study of medicine with Drs. PARSONS & ERWIN, in the Fall of 1863; in 1865 he came to this county, and in 1867 located in this township and commenced the practice of medicine; he shortly after attended lectures at Rush Medical College, Chicago, from which he graduated in the Winter of 1870 and 1871; returned and located in this town, where he has since resided. Married Sarah L. TAYLOR in this township February 21, 1867; she is a native of this State; their children are Franklin E., Austin F. and Frederick; the latter, J. C. QUIRE, was born in Hamilton Co., Ohio, August 29, 1851; moved to Montgomery Co with his parents, and to this township in the Fall of 1865; has been engaged at farming and teaching school most of the time till December 1874, when he engaged with his brother in their present business. ~ "Lynn Grove Township Biographies," The History of Jasper County, Iowa, (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878)
