born in West Virginia April 1, 1812; in the early part of his life he moved to Henry Co., Ind., where he married Rachel ----------- Nov. 12, 1840; she was born in Clinton Co., Ohio, Jan. 12, 1820; they moved to Lee Co., Iowa, in 1852, where they resided till 1855, and moved to this county, settling in this township. He was a man of considerable ability, and was called upon to fill many offices of trust, the duties of which he discharged faithfully; he died June 3, 1877. Mrs. DYSART died March 16, 1864; she was a member of the Society of Friends. Their children are David, who was a member of the 33d I. V. I., and died in the army June 24, 1863; Elizabeth M., Israel, Lewis, Sarah A. (now Mrs. CHARLES), Lorenzo D., Martha J.(now Mrs. ARNOLD), Gerritt, Harriett, Leander and Wm.
