SCOTT, John G.
Farmer and stock raiser; Sec. 26; P. O. Newton; born in Jefferson Co., Ohio, June 30, 1816. Married in Ohio in April, 1843, to Isabel J. SMITH; she was born in Belmont Co., Ohio, June 30, 1824; they have three children - Robert Alexander, Sarah Francis (now Mrs. Joseph H. MISKIMIN), Levina Jane (now Mrs. David G. TIPTON). Mr. SCOTT is a practical sheep grower, and has a good flock; has 250 acres of land, valued at $35 per acre; moved to Iowa in 1867. Has held offices of Trustee and Treasurer several terms. Mr. SCOTT helped in the raid to capture the rebel guerrilla Morgan, in Ohio; furnished horse in the raid for weeks; paid $350 toward enlistments in his company in the late war.
