DAVEY, James
Farmer and Justice of the Peace; Sec. 9; P. O. Baxter; born in England March 14, 1845. He married Emma J. Wallace in Illinois in 1864; she was born in Vermont in 1847; they have six children - Cornelius, George Henry, Charles William, Minnie, Gertrude and Elizabeth. Has eighty-five acres, valued at $1,600. He enlisted May 17, 1864, in the 132d Ill. V. I. For 100 days; served his time and was mustered out with the regiment. He hods the office of Justice of the Peace, and has for four years; has been School Director. He came to New York in 1854; thence to Illinois and thence to Iowa in 1867; improved his farm and set out an orchard, etc.; is one of the hard-working and well respected citizens of Independence Tp.
