DEWOLF, TIBBLES, SIBBLES

DeWOLF, H. C.; of the firm Davis Bro. & DeWolf; Dry Goods, groceries; Prairie City; was born in Trumbull Co., Ohio, Nov. 11, 1843; came to this county in 1866. Married Lizetta SIBBLES; she was born in Ozaukee Co., Wis., Dec. 29, 1850; mother of two children-Clara E., born August 17, 1870; Laura L., March 24, 1873. Mr. and Mrs. DeWOLF belong to the M. E. Church. Emigrated from Ohio to Kane Co., Ill.; lived there one year, thence to Jasper Co., Iowa, where he has resided since. Enlisted in the 6th Ohio V. C. in 1863, and served during the war; was in the battles of Wilderness, defense of Washington, Hatch's Run, Va., Dec. 9th and 10th in 1864; Hatch's Run, Feb. 5 and 6, 1865; Boydton Plank Road, Dec. 1, 1864; Fort Steadman, March 25, 1865; Silver Creek, April 6, 1865; Farmville, April 7, 1865; Appomattox Court House, April 9, 1865. Mr. DeWOLF is one of the Directors of the Citizens Bank, and one of the oldest merchants in the city. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 638
