BEVAN, S. T.; Farmer, Sec. 3, P. O. Kellogg; born in Belmont Co., Ohio, in 1837; moved to Logan Co. when a boy, thence to Marshall Co. with his mother in 1855, and located in this county in 1856. He was converted to religion in Logan Co., Ohio, at an early age, and became a member of the Friends' Society, but soon fell away from his duties as a soldier of Christ, and remained an outcast from the consolation of religion until 1870, when he responded to the call of his Creator, and reunited himself to his Church and again enrolled in the army of the Lord; he is a sincere and faithful worker in his Society, and looking upon all Christian denominations as brothers, he feels and acts as a brother toward them. He started in life a poor boy, but by adopting a course of strict integrity, honesty and studious attention to his business, he has acquired a competency. He married Miss Sarah HODSON in 1862; she was born in Missouri in 1841. He owns fifty-four acres of land, valued at $45 per acre. ~ "The History of Jasper County" (Chicago: Western Historical Company, 1878), 546.
