Died – William Applegate died at his home in Fulton Friday morning, June 12, 1903, after a lingering illness of two years from rheumatism and dropsy. He was born in 1839 and was aged 64 years, 4 months and 4 days. He was a soldier of the Civil War, being a member of Co. I, 31st Iowa regiment. Funeral services were held at his late home in Fulton Saturday at 1 p.m. Rev. Westphal of Andrew officiating, after which A. W. Drips Post of this city took charge of the remains and buried them with military honors in the Andrew cemetery.
