Death Summons Aged Resident Sunday Night
Mrs. L. W. Garretson Passes Away At Home of Daughter Funeral At Fulton Today

Mrs. Henrietta Garretson, 85, a lifelong resident of Jackson county, died Sunday night, Dec. 13 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Robbins, northeast of Maquoketa.

Four weeks ago she fractured her hip in a fall. The suffering caused from this injury, coupled with her advanced age, were the immediate cause of her death. Mrs. Garretson was one of the old type of womanhood whose home was her realm. She was of a quiet, unassuming disposition and was content to let what the world deems the greatest things in life be set aside for the every day duties and demands, that after all, when summed up, are great as viewed by God.

Henrietta Simon, daughter of Christian and Anna Simon, was born Feb. 14, 1846 near Fulton, Iowa, where she resided until the death of her husband in August, 1921. Since that time she has resided with her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Robbins.

She was united in marriage to Lewis W. Garretson, Oct. 17, 1872, To this union four children were born, Wm. H., John C., Mrs. Edna Robbins, all of Maquoketa, and Mrs. Emma Campbell of Columbus, O. All of whom were with their mother during her last illness. Four grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Garretson was the last of a family of five.

A brief service was held at the Buchner chapel at 12:30 o’clock and the funeral service was held at the Fulton Methodist church with the Rev. H. H. Dell, officiating. Interment was made in the Esgate cemetery.
