Death of Former Resident

The death of John George Beck, a very highly respected and well known farmer of Fairfield township, occurred at 9 o'clock Tuesday evening at the old homestead now occupied by Jacob Beck, a son-in-law with whom the aged gentleman has resided since the death of his wife, three years ago. He had only been ill since Saturday on which day he was over come by heat while working in the hayfield.

The deceased was born at Dettingen, Ober-Amt Urach, Weurtemberg, Germany, April 10, 1842, was married in 1867, and in 1869 came with his young wife to America, since when, with the exception of one year spent in Illinois, he has resided near Union Center in Fairfield township.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters - John F. and George of Fairfield township, Mrs. Jacob Beck who resides on the old homestead, Mrs. Wm. Becker of Andrew and Mrs. Katy Bohler[sic] of Cheyenne, Wyo. - Preston Times.

Mr. Beck was a former resident of Bellevue, a brother of our furniture dealer, J.J. Beck. There are also two other brothers, J.C. Beck of Gypsum, Kansas and Michael Beck of Hanover, Ill. The funeral was held Friday from the home conducted by Rev. Moehl, the Lutheran minister of Preston. Those present from Bellevue were as follows: J.J. Beck, sons Louis, Paul and Justin and daughters Tilda and Lena and [illegible] Beck.
