Keister---Hiram Keister was born in Butler county, Penn., in 1838, and emigrated to Jackson county, Iowa, in 1859, was married to Jane Gilmore March 27, 1862. To this union were born three children. The survivors of the family are his devoted wife and son, Wm. Keister of Canton, Iowa, and daughter, Mrs. Wm. Houston of Emeline, Iowa.

Mr. Keister was a member of the M. E. church, a man of sterling worth, honorable, upright and a devoted father. The funeral services were held at the Emeline church, Rev. Davis officiating. The remains were laid to rest at the Hickory Grove cemetery.
